Meet the Pros: Christina Gregory

Christina Gregory

Get to know Christina Gregory a healing touch and reiki practitioner with an integrative practice in the Twin Cities.

Tell us about your business. What do you do?

My business is Energy Healing Universe. I am in an integrative clinic providing primarily Reiki Energy Therapy combined with Healing Touch and Shamanic Practice according to client needs.

How do you approach your area of expertise (what makes you different?)

I describe Reiki energy as the system that it is. It is a vibrational modulating energy in the hands of the practitioner. It ignites your own body’s wisdom as to how it wants to heal. So it is not manipulative. It does not force anything. Nothing is put into you. I am not channeling anything. The vibration ignites the wisdom of your own body to heal.

I also can use other types of energy systems as needed such as healing touch, and general healing methods of core shamanic practice.

For example we might do limpia cleanse with egg and herbs to release stuck energy and then do a Reiki session. We might use retrieval of a Power Animal when someone feels like they have lost their own power to move forward. Or we can certainly use only Reiki as it unsticks, balances and brings you slowly into your own healing wisdom and power.

What drew you to this work?

Since I was about 5 years old I have been fascinated with healing. I tried to heal a mole on the back of my father’s ear with my sister’s diaper cream! In high school I was passionate about becoming a doctor but in the ’60s support for women to go on that career path was very slim. During childbearing years I trained some women in Lamaze childbirth breathing methods. And was certified as a La Leche leader.

Fast forward many years later I was introduced to energy healing by a couple of massage therapists and I was hooked. I am drawn to the fact that it empowers your own body to do its amazing healing work. Reiki is not manipulative but only assists when the client is ready.

“I wish people understood that energy is science it is not magic. It is rooted in modulating vibration that activates the healing wisdom of the person’s body. And it heals on all levels of body, mind and spirit as the person is ready to heal.”

What do you love about your job?

I love the surprises that energy therapy provides to the client and the practitioner. The client’s own body is doing the work and it is always beautiful to see this process. “Sending” energy healing is amazing to see as it works just as well as “in person”!

Describe the person that is best fit for you and your services.

The best fit is someone who is open minded, ready to heal and do the work. If you only want to use Reiki that will work beautifully. If you want to slowly incorporate other modalities that is perfect as well.
Expectations is important. This is not a spa service but deep healing work that make lifelong changes. So that means it may take awhile and there is always work to do away from the clinic to make those change as well. Reiki will support it all.

What results can people see when they work with you? What’s possible?

This is subtle energy working over time but I have seen immediate releases of stuck emotional energy and pain just vanish. But that is because the person’s body and spirit were ready to do that kind of healing. So anything is possible. The client’s body leads the way. If someone does not truly want to heal or does not believe they deserve to heal the body and spirit will respect that. However, Reiki can help move even resistance along. You do not have to believe in it for it to work. I have many examples from work in hospitals to show that is not the case. Reiki works very well with psychotherapy helping release and stabilize so that more effective work can be done in the therapy session.

In 10 sessions I saw a woman who could not speak up for herself open up and find her voice again making significant changes in her life. In 3 years I have seen a client with PTSD arrive at a calmer, less fearful state even reaching out in relationships. So Reiki helped move the stuck energy out freeing the client to take the action steps in life.

What do you wish more people understood about what you do?

I wish people understood that energy is science it is not magic. It is rooted in modulating vibration that activates the healing wisdom of the person’s body. And it heals on all levels of body, mind and spirit as the person is ready to heal.

It is not a “relaxation technique” . Relaxation is a benefit but the core of Reiki Energy Therapy is helping you to return to who you were meant to be: your real self.
Which means thoughts and actions and emotions that are holding you down or holding you back will want to release. And Reiki nourishes and heals along the way.

What’s fascinating you right now?

I am currently taking courses through the Foundation of Shamanic Studies which is a highly researched, ethical, permission focused set of shamanic healing courses. I love their emphasis on permission since in many healing circles this gets very fuzzy when ‘sending’ healing energy to someone.

The set of 8 courses will certify me in the core arts of shamanic healing. This is not culture specific as you cannot be called a shaman unless you are in community that appoints you to that role. But Michael Harder in his studies as an anthropologist combined the core techniques so that “ordinary” folks can learn the healing art. And like anything practice is key to this art.

To be clear shamanism is about healing the soul which can be at the root of many issues of body, mind or spirit. There are differing opinions whether you can use other energy methods and shamanism: in separate sessions you can but not simultaneously.

In what ways do you find yourself working alongside other health + wellness professionals?

I receive most of my referrals from psychotherapists as most clients are coming for emotional issues. The two are perfect together. Reiki helps build confidence and personal power enabling the client to talk more freely and deeply in therapy.

But because Reiki affects all levels of the person, referrals from any other practitioner will benefit the client.

What does self care look like to you right now?

Self care is a constant. About 20 years ago I established a clean diet including only organic and free range. Food is the first step to health. Moderate exercise usually dance. Forest bathing and anything outdoors including sitting on the earth and letting stress drain from the head down the spine. Weekly acupuncture. Monthly massage. And some small daily rituals to connect with nature.

Also, not attaching and letting go as life presents itself.
And daily Reiki. Reiki is meant to be used on yourself every day. I encourage clients to take a level one course to use Reiki on themself daily. I am able to teach all three levels of Reiki including Instructor.

What do you love about living and working in the Twin Cities?

The Twin Cities is pretty open minded and has a robust integrative wellness circle. Listening to the tales of workers in other cities the Twin Cities offers more freedom especially in areas often closed to practitioners in other areas.
