Meet the Pros: Christine Lord

Christine Lord

Get to know local holistic therapist Christine Lord as she shares a little about her business and what she loves about working and living in the Twin Cities.

Tell us about your business. What do you do?

I am a holistic healer and therapist who creates Sacred Space for high-sensitive, empathic, creative, mystical souls to come into communion with their Sacred Self and Source energy. I weave the wisdom I have gathered over the years into my sessions to help people find harmony in their life and reclaim their Sacred Wholeness. I assist my clients in learning the language of their Soul through listening to their unique body, mind, and heart vibrations so they can reconnect and trust the guidance and wisdom within their own self. It is in this place where it becomes possible to reflect, transform, rejuvenate and receive guidance, support and love for your soul journey.

“I believe in the importance of learning how to slow down and bring presence to your experience.”

Christine Lord, LICSW

I weave love and compassion into the fabric of all of my healing sessions. It is important to learn how to take all of the beautiful and challenging stories from our past and present and alchemize them into wholeness so it can become your treasured wisdom. I am lovingly devoted to the Restoration of Sacredness on this planet and I enjoy assisting those who are wishing to connect more deeply with the Earth and her teachings, to be a Sacred Guardian of Love and share this Light with all creation.

I also facilitate group work, ceremonies and retreats because I believe it is vital to be in community with our Soul Families and to share our journey with one another and feel supported on the path of our life purpose. Sharing our stories, our laughter and our tears reminds us of our Sacred Connection in the web of life. On this journey we walk hand in hand with our ancestors and guides, surrendering to the Great Mystery of life.

What drew you to this work?

I will never forget the day when I was 12 years old and in 7th grade. We had “career day” and I knew exactly which booth I was headed to…psychology! I had been endlessly fascinated by the human psyche as a young girl and I loved reading Greek and Roman mythology because of the intriguing portrayal of ancient mysteries. Now I can see how I was already trying to make sense of the various archetypes of human behavior. I also was a highly sensitive/empathic child. I could always feel and sense what others were feeling and almost intuitively knew what was going on with them. It was as if I could read their energy like a book of information. Later when I went to college, I realized my heart profoundly connected with the philosophy of the Social work field more than classic psychology so I decided to earn my BSW. I have always been an advocate for marginalized and oppressed groups of people and I have devoted my life to raising awareness around the need to de-colonize and liberate indigenous groups of people around the world.

I began my healer’s journey as a psychotherapist, becoming an LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker). During this time, I was led to take a deep dive into understanding the many aspects of trauma. I learned how to apply a somatic lens to healing and deeply connect with the body and nervous system through my Somatic Experiencing (SE) training. I fell in love with mindfulness, learning how to slow down and bring presence to the felt sense in our body, heart and mind. I later chose to learn more about energy healing and decided to become a Reiki Master. I loved learning about spiritual teachings and felt more complete when I brought spirituality into my healing space. I also incorporate my indigenous teachings from the Mexica tradition to honor the Earth and connect with sacred ceremony to celebrate our aliveness.

What do you love about your job?

For me, everyone I meet has the most unique and exquisite soul energy and I love connecting to the beauty of people on their various journeys. When I sit down with someone their energy begins to speak to me and it becomes like artwork in my mind. I see the colors, stories and heart energy that is their own energetic blueprint. What I really love though, is seeing people find their “home” frequency, where they are at peace with what is and who they are. There is a harmony and freedom in that Sacred place.

“My clients tell me how empowered they feel and are able to connect to a wise clarity that emerges from within where a universal truth can be heard, seen and understood.”

Christine Lord, LICSW

I know that my job is only as a guide, to help people learn how to get to this place over and over again. To reconnect to their own values and make choices for their own life journey. This brings my heart to a place of awe and gratitude when I see people reclaim their Sacred Self.

What results can people see when they work with you? What’s possible?

I believe when we come into a state of accepting things as they are, are able to trust that all things are sacred and can feel into the infinite love that is all around us…harmony, peace and freedom are possible! I also believe when you can learn how to listen to yourself, understand your patterns and respond in a compassionate way, it is possible to build a beautiful relationship with your Sacred Self. It is completely achievable to fall madly in love with yourself and your life!

I help my clients to listen to the sensations of their body. To observe nervous system signs and patterns that emerge to tell a story of what needs to be seen right now. Then we listen to the realm of emotions. Emotions carry the energy of water and need to move through us, not be held onto. I help people to recognize what they are feeling so they can gather the wisdom and then let it move on. We also explore the mind. The thoughts, stories and narratives that have come to create the experience of our reality. When we deeply uncover these beliefs, we can consciously choose how we want to dream our world into being.

All of this information is yours to read like a book. To intimately know yourself so then you can bring Sacred Presence into your life and live from your heart instead of live from a place of fear and control. Living in flow with what is, is the most Sacred Dance we can do with the Universe. When we are in flow, we are free to be exactly as we are.

What do you wish more people understood about what you do?

I wish more people understood the concept of wholeness which is the foundation of my work.

We are hard-wired to feel all different kinds of emotions, sensations and think all kinds of thoughts with our mind. This is the natural state of our human existence! There is no need for shame around whatever you have experienced or those places we all get stuck and lost in. As a society however, we have come to fear so many things and we desire to control many aspects of life in order to prevent being uncomfortable.

I have spent my entire professional life devoted to understanding the “brokenness” of the human experience as a trauma therapist. What it really has brought me to understand, is how we are already “whole” and how incredibly resilient and strong we all are! If I had one wish for my clients it would be that they could see themselves in their original beautiful state of harmony and wholeness, shining their glorious light and radiant soul! I see it with everyone I meet and I slowly try to show them through mirroring and reflecting what I see and teaching them through Nature how everything is exactly as it needs to be. It is only through love that we can heal ourselves back to wholeness.

Imagine if you could believe that everything was actually here to help you! Yes, even the uncomfortable parts! We have split the world into a black and white vision where it is good vs bad, light vs darkness. If we use a circular model, we can see that darkness is a path to the light and those “bad” feelings and experiences actually helped you learn and do a lot of “good” in your life. We are now more disconnected from the Earth, ourselves and others than ever before. When we return to this concept of wholeness, we can see that we already have everything we need and we were never actually “broken.” I want people to see how truly Sacred they are and all of life is! This is why I have devoted my life to healing the relationship to our Sacred Self. When I can see myself in love, I can see you in love too. This is how we restore Sacredness on Earth.

What’s fascinating you right now?

I love this question because what I am fascinated with is always changing. I am a student of life and l love learning about as much as I can absorb! Right now I am learning about the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers who have been meeting since 2004.

They are a group of beautiful women who come together from 5 different continents to discuss how to restore sacredness on this planet. What magnificent wisdom they are sharing with the world about their ancient ways and future dreams. I bow in gratitude for their courage and knowledge that is most needed right now.

What does self care look like to you right now?

This is a very important question to be asking ourselves right now with the impact of the pandemic, racial injustice being seen all over the country, natural disasters, the political world and the American election coming soon. I find that it is almost necessary to get grounded in my body as often as I can. That may be through meditation, prayer, dance, going for a walk, being in nature, journaling or talking with someone about what I’m feeling.

“We are all facing the unknown together and there are no answers ‘out there’ right now, so we must go within and witness what is.”

Christine Lord, LICSW

I allow all emotions to be seen and felt within my energetic system. I hold sacred space for the beauty, the shame, the horror and the hope that is held in the collective and individual experience. I lovingly show up for me and listen to what I need and respond with compassionate action.

What do you love about living and working in the Twin Cities?

I lived in London for 2 years and loved it! But it was never quite like home. The trees, the waters…this is very sacred land in Minnesota. The Mississippi river is a very important body of water that flows through this land. I am very grateful to the ancestors that I am able to work with the spirits here in Minnesota to provide my healings to others (and myself!).

I also love being able to work with other people who understand and respect the Earth the same way I do. There is such an open-minded community here in the Twin Cities who want to experience holistic alternatives in their health journeys. People are kind and curious here which makes my work rich with exploration in finding the path back to wholeness.

Favorite local restaurants?

I don’t eat out often but when I do, I love eating at Dominquez Restaurant on 50th Street in the Nokomis neighborhood!

Other favorite local businesses in the Twin Cities?

I most adore going to crystal shops and my two favorites are Awakenings…Gifts and Guidance for the Soul on Minnehaha Ave in Minneapolis and Enchanted Rock Garden in Richfield.
