Get to know our local health and wellness professionals in the Twin Cities. We asked local energy healer and spiritual coach Desiree Ruvalcaba to share a little about her business and what she loves about practicing in the Twin Cities.
Tell us about your business. What do you do?
I am an energy healer and spiritual coach, providing one-on-one sessions tailored to the individual. I particularly specialize in releasing energy blockages, promoting balance and flow, and empowering the individual to discover their true self and fulfill their life’s purpose.
What drew you to this work?
I’ve always had a drive to help people overcome their pain and suffering; though, I never really knew what career path it would lead me to until I went through many different stages of my own mental and physical hardships. I visited many doctors who were unable to pinpoint a diagnosis nor treat my illnesses, effectively. As a result, I took it upon myself to uncover the root causes of my suffering and actually heal from them instead of focusing merely on the symptoms.
I studied holistic and integrative health, and stumbled upon the practices of eastern medicine. Through this, I delved deeper into spirituality and eventually found my calling as an energy healer and spiritual coach. As I became my own healer and discovered my gifts, I realized how powerful and beautifully gifted we all are beyond our human suits, and I am here to remind people of just that.
What do you love about your job?
I love that I am making a positive impact on the world, one person at a time. It’s important to understand that every person contributes to the collective regardless of their belief systems, and that whatever we experience outside of ourselves is a result of what we each carry, energetically.
I guide people back to themselves to focus the love and care needed to heal and transform within in order to create a better environment at home, in society and in the world.
What results can people see when they work with you? What’s possible?
I am very passionate and dedicated to one’s healing process. As you may know, healing can get pretty intense and dark so it’s important that the individual receives the insight, clarity and assurance needed to recognize their true potential and gain the resiliency needed to power through.
Everyone is made differently; though, most of my clients have experienced transformational results. I have studied a variety of healing techniques and continue to explore others, not only to fuel my passion, but to provide a variety of services that can best fit the client’s needs.
What do you wish more people understood about what you do?
Some people approach my practices with skepticism which is completely understandable since most of us weren’t taught to believe in this way. I only ask to keep an open mind and recognize that we live in a world that exists beyond our physical senses.
Essentially, we are energetic beings inhabiting a physical body; therefore, we exist in both the material and non-material, or physical and non-physical planes. My work considers both.
What’s fascinating you right now?
Well, I’ve recently gotten into Tarot and started giving readings which have been very insightful and incredibly accurate. I’ve also been learning how to serve as a conduit to specific gods and goddesses, angels and archangels, and other higher beings for healing. It’s amazing and very powerful!
In the next few months, I will be delving much deeper into Astrology with a group of people. In the past, I’d always gotten intimidated by the vast amount of information it contained as I was self-teaching, so I am taking this opportunity to jump right in and follow through.
What does self care look like to you right now?
Honoring yourself in every moment mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. If you feel a creative spur, create! If you need to cry, cry! If your body wants to dance, dance! And if you don’t want to do any of that, don’t force it. Take a breather and rest.
Our minds were programmed to believe that productivity is the act of doing, that being sensitive is dishonorable, and that logic overrules intuition (just to mention a few). Because of this imbalance, our world has lost its sense of connection, so in order to become more balanced, we need to nurture and connect with ourselves, and understand what it means to do so.
What do you love about living and working in the Twin Cities?
The overall vibe of the Twin Cities has been so fascinating to experience. I’ve lived on the east coast all my life up until the Summer of 2019 when my partner and I quit our 9-5s, sold my condo, took a road trip across the country, and discovered this hidden gem along the way.
We planned to settle in California but felt a calling to come back and settle here instead. We fell in love with the environment. The lakes and greenery are beautiful; and we especially appreciate how progressive the society is when it comes to health and wellness, environmental impact, and social justice.
