Get to know our local health and wellness professionals in the Twin Cities. We asked local health coach and Board Certified Holistic & Integrative Health Practitioner Marnie Dachis Marmet to share a little about her business and what she loves about practicing in the Twin Cities.
Tell us about your business. What do you do?
I help people get to the underlying root cause of what is keeping them from having the energy, vitality, health and anti-aging qualities that they want.
After a very thorough lifestyle assessment, I guide people in figuring out what they are deficient in and what toxicities they have within their bodies and their external environments.
I help clients with: diet, exercise, stress reduction, toxin removal, sleep issues, supplements, mindset coaching, lab testing and more.
Together we will: connect the dots between who you are and who you want to be, create your personal blueprint, decipher your body’s unique needs and set your personal goals to work toward sustainable change.
As a guide and mentor, I empower clients and provide on-going support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes that improve your health and happiness.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. – Zen proverb
What drew you to this work?
For years now I’ve had a passion for wellness and holistic health. I immersed myself in books, articles, and self-education, but it hadn’t occurred to me yet that I could turn this passion into my career.
During this period of self-inquiry (while I was focused on my health more than ever), the path ahead of me slowly opened itself up. Wisdom crept in. It was like a light bulb flickering on. Here was my awakening.
I realized it’s not enough to have an active lifestyle. Although yoga has been a big part of my health routine for more than two decades, I’d somehow missed its central message – the interconnectedness of the physical, the emotional and the spiritual.
I began to address my health as a whole. My mindset shifted. I changed my diet, workouts, self-care routines, and the way I talked to my children. I established more positive self-talk and slowly weeded out negative, toxic energy in my life.
From there, it was a no-brainer: integrative health was my calling. Once I understood what my inner voice had been trying to tell me, there was no stopping me.
As the Zen proverb says, “The obstacle is the path.” I was fearful, but I took the plunge. I rearranged my whole world around integrative health. I enrolled in three simultaneous programs in one year, and it was crazy and challenging and wonderful.
I became a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a certified yoga teacher, and a Certified Yoga Calm® instructor. Zenful Life Coaching was born.
I created Zenful Life Coaching as a way of changing lives using a powerful combination of health coaching and yoga. I now live, breathe, and teach integrative wellness. I get to inhabit my passion – if you’ve ever followed your heart, you’ll know how satisfying that feels. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
The impact on my own life has been profound. My loving husband and three kids are making small and steady changes too. Our home is much happier because I am living my purpose. I wake up every day excited and invigorated!
What do you love about your job?
I love the variety of each day. I also love working with clients to discover all of the wonderful, healthy changes they can make in their own lives and then I have the opportunity and pleasure to watch them accomplish their goals.
What results can people see when they work with you? What’s possible?
Weight loss, better sleep, stress reduction, higher energy, better nutrition, feel better overall, more positive mindset, better self-care tools.
What do you wish more people understood about what you do?
Sick care is a lot more expensive than health coaching. It is all about education and prevention. If you have the tools and knowledge to take care of yourself you are treating yourself to lifelong health and wellness.
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected.
Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?
As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods.
Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun, and rewarding.
