Meet the Pros: Stephanie Potter

Stephanie Potter

Get to know local holistic health coach Stephanie Potter as she shares a little about her business and what she loves about working and living in the Twin Cities.

Tell us about your business. What do you do?

As a board certified Integrative Health Practitioner and holistic health coach I empower women to transform their health through nutrition, mindset, movement and lifestyle by creating sustainable habits for life. I’m passionate about helping women make real changes so that they can thrive, feel their best and live their best life.

As a coach I guide, inspire, motivate, offer suggestions and hold people accountable so that they can make changes that are often hard to make without support.

I’m also the co-host of The Art of Living Well Podcast, which I created with my co-host Marnie Dachis Marmet to empower people to live their happiest, healthiest and most authentic life.

Each week we bring inspiring and motivating conversations covering health and wellness topics including fitness, mindset, food, travel, product reviews and strategies from a variety of experts including our own bank of knowledge.

What drew you to this work?

I am a recovering CPA, caffeine and sugar addict turned holistic health coach. I used sugar, alcohol and large amount of coffee and processed foods to help me through each day.

“My motto was ‘work hard, play hard,’ and I wore lack of sleep as a badge of honor.”

STEPHANIE POTTER

After nearly 18 years in the corporate world I was burnt out. I also grew up with a somewhat unhealthy relationship with food, tracking what I ate and how much I worked out as a young teen and tried many different diet trends (i.e fat-free, low-fat, Atkins, no red meat etc)

My passion for wellness led me to become a health coach so that I could help other high-achieving and driven women prioritize their health to improve their energy, eat cleaner and integrate simple and sustainable healthy habits. I understand first hand the challenges of maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle while juggling a successful career and family.

What do you love about your job?

I love helping people execute what they know in their gut they need to do to feel their best and live their best life. I get so much energy and joy from watching my clients get to the root of their health concerns and then make changes they never thought they could make before working with me.

They’re often surprised when they stop craving certain foods and start craving more plant-based and nourishing foods. I love seeing the pride and confidence my clients gain as they make sustainable changes and the positive feedback from their families as well.

What results can people see when they work with you? What’s possible?

When people work with me they’re motivated and inspired to incorporate new habits and they often reduce their stress, improve their sleep, have more energy, improve their mood, lose weight, reduce cravings to sugar/caffeine and processed foods.

They learn to cook more whole and nourishing foods and overall feel so much better in their own skin. My clients make sustainable lifestyle changes and see and feel real results in a matter of weeks.

“My approach is not a short-term fix but rather a journey that allows people to unlock their true potential to live their happiest, healthiest and most authentic life.”

STEPHANIE POTTER

What do you wish more people understood about what you do?

Health coaches are still a fairly new profession and people often assume that I’m a nutritionist or that I only help people figure out what to eat.

The notion of health expands well beyond the food on your plate and in fact, often the root cause for someone’s health concern has little to do with what they are eating. Stress, sleep, lifestyle, mindset and movement all play a big role in helping someone reach their health goals. My approach is one that incorporates mind, body and spirit and that honors that everyone is unique.

What’s fascinating you right now?

I’ve been immersed in the podcast world for the past year and still learning a ton including editing, partnerships, and social media. I’ve also started working with more clients to facilitate at home lab testing and obtaining data to help them get to the root of their health concerns. Everyone is so unique and no two protocols are ever alike.

What does self care look like to you right now?

Self-care definitely looks a little different right now but for me going on long walks, spending time outside everyday and having alone time to read and reflect are really important for my overall happiness and mental health.

I’m still working to establish a daily meditation practice, which I try to do in the morning. I joined a Monday night live meditation group a couple months ago, which is a wonderful way to end the day.

What do you love about living and working in the Twin Cities?

I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and love the people, the fact that Minnesotans embrace the cold weather, the accessibility to downtown, the beautiful lakes, the outdoor activities and community.
